Jose Rios started his membership with LGPA shortly after he became a police officer in 1998. In 2005, LGPA became LGPA/GOAL and jose became the Vice President of the organization. part of the primary duty for Jose is the community relations between LGPA/GOAL and the LGBT community at large. Jose has helped to reorganize the training curriculum that has been presented at the Police Academy.

Jose Rios is the LGBT Liaison for the 23rd district and has held that position for nine years. During that period of time, Jose has been recognized for his work with several awards. Jose was awarded the City of Chicago Human Relations award for his work with building bridges between the LGBT community and the Chicago Police Department. Also, the ARTS community presented Jose with the Trail Blazer award for his service to the LGBT Community.

Jose speaks four languages and is a licensed Sign Language Interpreter in the State of Illinois.

Jose has had a wonderful time working with the current President of LGPA/GOAL Chicago and his fellow board members and is looking forward to the continued success and progress of this important organization.
